Day 5 – 1 July 2014
Update: No flights in from London today there is one coming late tonight so we will know in the morning if the remaining bags are here
Today we started our day meeting with our program coordinator Margret, she oversees the sponsorship program for us. We talked abot the program, the children, their families and what ways we can improve the program. We talked about the schools that some of our children were going to, and decided it would be best to move our children to schools that are performing better. Tomorrow we are going to visit one of the school and discuss with the headmaster transferring our children there next term which starts in September.
Then we hopped on bodas and headed out to Ekisa. Ekisa is one of my favorite places to be, it is a special needs orphanage here in jinja. I don’t even know where to start with why its one of my favorite places, the women who run it are amazing, the mamas who take care of the children are incredible and the children….there are no words to explain how much I love them and how amazing they are. We got there in time for “school” where Emily leads class and the mamas do centers with the children, I couldn’t get over how big the kids have gotten since I saw them last. When it was lunch time, we hopped on bodes with Mama Viola, who works at Ekisa but she has also adopted one of my favorite kids, Zeke. We got to go to Zeke’s school and pick him up, he was so excited to see me. I also got to see Racheal, Ditte, Deborah, Paul and Sam who all go to that school too. Then we took Zeke swimming with my brother David to celebrate David’s birthday. We had a great time at the pool.
Then we hopped on bodas and headed back to the house with Zeke and kept him until later that night when Mama Viola came to pick him up. It was a fun day getting to spend the day with Zeke and David.
