Today we went to my favorite place in the world, the village of Musima. Of course, we were greeted incredibly as soon as we arrive we were met by some of the children and their guardians. They were singing an dancing. Then they carried me in on a cart decorated with flowers. I know they are doing it to show their love and respect for me, but it is so weird for me to be treated like that. Once we got to the center of the village, we were hugged and welcomed. Then we were greeted by the leaders of the village, then my favorite part is when the children sing and danced for us…and of course pulled us up to dance with them!
I was so excited to see my brother Pande when we arrived, I didn’t expect to see him because he should have been away at boarding school, but his school has closed for the week so he was there to greet us also.I missed all of my kids who are away at Boarding school, we won’t see them until next week when we bring them back to the village to celebrate the playground.
After we had some food we walked to the land where we will build our playground. Pastor Julius prayed over the land and blessed the project. Its so amazing to see the land, know it is ours and know that next week there will be a big, beautiful playground there for my kids to have a fun, safe place to play.
Then we started doing home visits. We visit the home of every child who is sponsored, and now we have 77 children sponsored so it is going to take us awhile to visit them all. We sit with the families, hear if they are having any struggles, see the home and make sure our kids are well taken care of. Today we visited 17 children.
We missed everyone so much and it was such a great time. The people of Musima always make me feel at home.
