Day 8 – 4 July 2014
Update: No bags today…still missing 2.
Today we headed back to Ekisa for the day, our schedule is about to get really busy so today was probably the last full day we can spend at Ekisa, and today was going to be extra special because we were going to take Josh and Grace to town for a special outing. The kids love when they get to go to town and have some one on one time.
We hopped on bodes and headed to the Source Cafe, Grace was so excited to ride on a boda and Josh just giggled every time we hit a bump in the road…which is ALOT! We had chicken and chips but saved the best for last cake and soda. Grace was so cute walking up and telling Mohammed, “I want cake!” and then marched back to the table chanting “cake, cake, cake”. Both boys were so good, and we had a great time.
It amazes me how big both boys have gotten since I first met them. Josh used to be a squishy baby, who didn’t like to be held or loved…now he’s a super strong little boy, who loves to crawl into my lap and give hugs. Grace, who I used to call baby Grace was a little baby when I first met him, and now he walks around like a little old man, talking and signing so well.
I love getting to see Ekisa grow over the past couple of years, and seeing how good the kids are doing. Its bittersweet, some of my favorite kiddos have gone back to their families and are no longer at Ekisa, I miss them and their smiling faces so much, but its so good to know they are home!
