Meet Evelyn….

This is Evelyn, she is an amazing woman who has overcome much in her life, and she uses her past to help, counsel and encourage women who are facing hard times.

When Evelyn was 16 she was abducted by rebels from the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) while being held captive, Evelyn got pregnant by the rebel and by the time she finally escaped she had two children.

Evelyn has taken her painful past and uses it to help other single women through her NGO Arise Crafts. Evelyn makes beautiful jewelry and crafts and teaches other women how to make them so they can provide for their family. Evelyn tells the women “you can not change your past, but you CAN change your future”. She hopes that her story helps and encourages women to be strong. You can find Evelyn many evenings at the Red Chilli selling her jewelry and crafts in her little shop by the picnic tables.

Evelyn’s amazing story proves that God can use even our darkest pasts to make beautiful things.
